” It is now 3 weeks ago since I left the Kibbutz Beth El ”
This is a summary of the report that I made about the Kibbutz Beth El:
Founded: The Kibbutz was created around 1963, since than many people joined. (Go down the page to see a full report from 2015 by Breaking Israel News)
Structure:
The kibbutz consists between 900-1100 people, and a number of buildings mainly: Elderly homes, a Childcare, a School, a Guesthouse, etc. and also some companies that are connected.
There is a small amount of Canadians that came from communities in Canada, Most of the kibbutz members are originally from Germany, while some are born in Israel.
It’s interesting to see the mixture of different languages and cultures, besides the fact that many can speak German, Hebrew and English, some even a bit Dutch. Which makes it easy to communicate when you speak one of these languages . The main language spoken is German.
As a kibbutz I would imaging a piece of land with many buildings and agriculture, however here you will find the communities spread out in different parts of the land, Mainly in the North of Israel.
The Program (s):
As a HTTL (Hand (s) To The Land), you get one day to know each other before you are going on in several Tours with others who are in the same group, Each new group can get different tours to different places but mainly specific places in the country like the Carmel, Jerusalem, the Negev .etc, and thus you get in 3 weeks a lot of knowledge and history lessons about the Land of Israel,
It’s a busy schedule so you will get much to see and experience in a short time, there are breaks between sometimes of a few hours you will get to learn the Kibbutz and the randomly will be invited by people for a visit.
As a STTL (Servant (s) To The Land) are you employed as a volunteer, depending on your specific profession craft, and the work available ,you will be helping the community, at the Farm, where you help harvesting, seeding, and general care of plants (eg tomatoes and cucumbers) or any other place where they can use a hand, sometimes you are helping in the kitchen,or help with painting. The general work hours for volunteers are around:
” In my case I was offered to work as a helper on a small truck that transported the food and clothes, and additionally worked as a cleaner at the factory.(average: 7: 20 am – 5: 00 pm ) which I did for 3 weeks ”
Information:
In exchange for your work as STTL get pocket money and a clean and a very modern room, that you will have to maintain, also you will be able to get food from the Kibbutz itself.
The kibbutz is christian, and thus it is a slight mix of different backgrounds: You are to be expected to join the ”Church services” they provide, You can not participate in the program if you do not recognize the Redeemer.
Additionally it takes approximately 10-15 minutes to get on the bus to Haifa. There are a lot of stores, included a larger Supermarket down the Mall below Zichron Yaacov.

Dit is een samenvatting van het report dat ik heb gemaakt over de Kibbutz Beth El:
Structuur:
De kibbutz bestaat in totaal tussen de 900-1100 mensen, en een aantal gebouwen, o.a Ouderenverblijf, Kinderopvang, School, Guesthouse etc.
Ook zijn er fabrieken waar Beth El deel uitmaakt.
Er is een klein part Canadees overgekomen uit communities in Canada, en voor het grootste gedeelte Duits, er zijn ook een paar geboren in Israel.
Het is interesant dat veel van de mensen Engels, Hebreeuws en Duits praten. En ook geen moeite hebben over te schakelen. De algemene taal die wordt gebruikt is Duits.
Bij het concept Kibbutz denk ik al gauw aan een paar gebouwen en huisjes bij elkaar met een omheining.. Beth El is verspreid voor het grootste gedeelde
over het noorden gedeelte, bestaande uit verschillende groepen.
Programma(s):
Als HTTL (Hand(s) To The Land) krijg je een dag om elkaar te leren kennen voordat je op verschillende toers gaat maken met anderen, dit is verschillend voor iedere groep, Je komt op somiggen
specefieke plekken in het Land(Bijv. De Karmel, Jerusalem, De Negev .etc ), en daardoor krijg je in 3 weken heel wat kennis over het Land Israel,
Het is een druk schema zodat je zoveel mogelijk kan zien en weten in een korte tijd, er zijn korte tussen pauses van een paar uur soms om ook even wat op jezelf te doen.
Ook zal je de Kibbutz leren kennen en verschillende mensen zullen je uitnodigen.
Als een STTL (Servant(s) To The Land) wordt je ingezet als een vrijwilleger, afhankelijk van je specifieke beroep of ambacht, en werk dat er is, kun je ook daarin helpen op de kibbutz,
Maar over het algemeen worden meesten STTL ingezet op de boederij, daar help je met oogsten, zaaien, en algemeen verzorging van planten (bijv, Tomaten en komkommers),
er word daarnaast ook soms hulp in de keuken opgeroepen, en soms kun je ook helpen met schilderen. Werktijd circa: 7:30- 1:30 (1,5 uur lunch/pauze),
” In mijn geval werd ik aangeboden op een kleine vrachtauto als helper mee te helpen voedsel rondbrengen en kleding af te leveren (WT circa: 7:20-17:00), en hiernaast ook als schoonmaker te helpen in de Fabriek. Dit deed ik 3 weken ”
Informatie:
In ruil voor je werk als STTL krijg je zakgeld en ook ben je van alles voorzien, ook zit je in een gasthuis dat net een paar jaar nieuw is, het ziet er uit alsof je in een hotel zit.
De kibbutz is christenlijk, Het is een mix van verschillende stromingen en er schijnen wat dingen te veranderen nu en dan,
Je kan niet deelnemen aan het programma als je de Verlosser niet erkent.
Er is zeker de mogelijkheid om in contact te blijven met familie via de wifi, Zikron Yaacov waar de kibbutz zich bevind is een historische plek en een heel leuk gezellig dorpje
dat een Italiaanse sfeer uitstraalt. Er zijn verschillende artistieke atributen en gallerijen te bezoeken, er is ook zelfs een Escaperoom spel, en veel leuke parkjes.
Daarnaast zit je ongeveer op 10-15 minuten afstand met de bus vanaf Haifa. Er genoeg winkels om even te kunnen shoppen, Er is ook een grote supermarkt keten (Mall) onderaan Zichron Yaacov.

I was there in 2006 and loved it….remember a Jonathan too. Trying to get a friend info on the Hands to the Land people whom I went with and cannot find them….please let me know if they are still taking tours as my friend really wants to go with them.It was a wonderful experience.
